Fidelity Bank appoints New MD

Fidelity Bank Plc has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange of the appointment of Mr. Nnamdi John Okonkwo. This appointment will however, take effect from February 2014.

Born on April 21, 1964, in Otukpo, Benue State, Mr. Okonkwo attended the Wesley High School, Otukpo from 1977 – 1982 and obtained a B. Agriculture from the University of Benin between 1984 – 1989. Mr. Okonkwo also obtained an MBA, Banking & Finance from Enugu State University in 2008.

Mr. Nnamdi John Okonkwo commenced his working career at Merchant Bank of Africa Limited as Executive Trainee where he worked between April 1990 – March 1993. He went over to Guaranty Trust Bank Plc where he worked between 1993 – 1998 in different categories: Account Officer, Branch Manager, Port Harcourt and Branch Manager, Onitsha.

He was the Regional Manager (Lagos) of Citizens Bank Limited between February 2000 and December 2001. In December 2001 he joined Broad Bank of Nigeria Limited as Group Head, (Institutional Banking) December 2001 – August 2002; Group Head (Business Development) August 2002 – August 2003; General Manager/Divisional Head (Commercial & Consumer Banking) August 2003 – July 2004).

Mr. Okonkwo was the General Manager/Bank Head, Standard Trust Bank Plc from July 2004 – August 2005 and from January 2006 – October 2006 he was Project Director (Branch Roll Out) UBA Plc. October – December 2006 he was Regional Director (Federal Capital Territory). Between September 2009 - March 2012 Mr. Okonkwo was the Divisional Head (Corporate Banking) of the bank.

Mr. Nnamdi John Okonkwo joined Fidelity Bank Plc in April 2012 as Executive Director (South), a position he held until this present appointment. He has served on the Board of UBA Ghana; UBA Liberia; Nigeria e Government Strategy (Negst); Ghana National Banking College, Ghana.
